Dovile openly shares her journey—how she took the leap into a new career path, the challenges she overcame, and how she successfully transitioned from banking to digital marketing.

Can you share your work experience before starting at CodeAcademy?
I worked in the banking sector for nearly two years as an Agreement Preparation Specialist. My responsibilities included drafting credit agreements and contracts, verifying client-submitted information, and approving financial statements. I also have experience in market research and completed an internship in accounting. This background helped sharpen my attention to detail and analytical thinking, which I now successfully apply in my new field.
Why did you choose to study at CodeAcademy?
I was drawn to the funding opportunities and the fact that the program perfectly matched my needs. I wanted to learn how to build and optimize websites while improving my SEO and PPC skills. Additionally, I read great reviews about CodeAcademy, which convinced me to choose this course.
What were your initial goals when you decided to study at CodeAcademy?
After taking a career break to travel the world for a year and a half, I realized I wanted to learn a new skill—one that would help me achieve my personal projects and career goals while keeping me engaged and excited about my work. Understanding that I needed to pursue something I truly enjoyed led me to explore e-commerce. I see great potential in this field, whether working in a corporation, as a freelancer, or even building my own business.
How did you stay motivated during tough moments?
I was highly motivated throughout the learning process, thanks to my enthusiastic instructor, Jūratė (shoutout to her!). She always maintained a positive atmosphere, encouraged us to keep pushing forward, and shared her own experiences. Those real-life examples were incredibly inspiring. The community of learners also played a big role. Everyone was engaged, eager to learn, and supportive, which helped maintain motivation. When searching for a job, I stayed focused on my goal, which I had written down in my phone’s notes. Every time I faced a rejection, I would re-read it to remind myself why I started and that setbacks were just part of the journey.
What did you do to land your first job?
I worked closely with CodeAcademy’s Career Center and followed all of their guidelines and advice. I applied not only to job listings but also reached out directly to companies that interested me, even if they weren’t actively hiring. I also worked on practical assignments to improve my skills. I always made sure to express genuine motivation and share my vision for my career, which I strongly believed in. As a result, my job search didn’t take long—from the start of my active search to getting hired, it took less than a month.
What advice would you give to those looking to change careers?
The most important thing is to clearly define your goals—why are you transitioning, and what do you hope to achieve? Once you start learning, take full advantage of the course: attend all lectures, complete assignments, and build relationships with instructors and classmates. These connections can become part of your professional network and open up unexpected career opportunities. You never know when or where your paths will cross in the future—especially in such a fast-growing field!
